A warm welcome...

Last night August closed her door and left us in awe to gaze at the blue moon.
A fitting exit and an inspiring opening to the beginning of September
Once a month I volunteer at the Kids Garden club here in Sooke and
what a better way to embrace the harvest time of year, with
the kids making their own scare crows.
It's quite simple, really...

First the kids drew a face on a head and stuffed it with hay.

Looking good Isabella!
Let the stuffing begin!!

Nick made sure his was packed!
"if I only had a brain..."
Up and ready to scare!
Even Ernie was in on the action...
Next it was onto making potatoe heads...
It's really quite simple with a few good craft bits and some colourful head pins...
the possibilities are endless!
ta da!...gold hula skirt!
Zen like inspired!
praying mantis / dinosaur hybrid...
Time for a group photo...
WOW! Thats a lot of scare crows!
And everyone with as much personalities as their maker...
Lovely leggings!
"spot of tea m'dear?"..."oh I'd love some!"
This one had my vote for the scariest of all...
Great job, Emily and River!
So we shall stand them in the gardens and the fields
to keep watch over our upcoming bounty.
One will even stand gaurd at the flower shop!
Happy September!

Song for Friday...weirdness!

My co-worker, soul sister, all around good time gal, Claire shared this
video with me yesterday. Her and I
are both fiends of music of all kinds.
We're always showing each other some of our favorites
be they good, bad or ugly.
This video fits under the bad, ugly, wierd and
just plain creepy...
but it's pretty funny as well.
Those Russians are some freaky dudes!
Have a wonderful weekend all!

How I spent my summer vacation...

I feel that I have so many photos of what I did this summer
but so much time has passed by without writing about each and every one.
I think a plethora of highlights is in order.
Then I shall start anew as fall whispers in our ears...
summer was lost to...
picking flowers...

high fields by the river...
 always walks with the dogs...
 finding time to create...
 finding time to study
revelling in public art...giant troll consuming a VW in Fremont district, Seattle
seeing how others create...with gum...
this whole wall 'gummed up' by the thousands!
(I even found this one for Ciara over at Milkmoon!)
with cameras...
 with glass!
Amazing Dale Chahully exhibit in Seattle...
heat wave excursions in the Southern Gulf Islands...

celebrating!...
 Happy days at the fair!...
a four legged friend with the same birthday!
pig races under way!...
whew! I need a rest now!
