What a day! Part 1...

Arriving  two weeks before the wedding was a good thing!
So much energy....such a buzz in the air....so many things to get ready.
Aside from the usual chores of readying the house and yard,
There was the fun stuff....
Going to the spa with Aja, bridesmaid Jenna and my niece Meaghan the
Friday before the wedding was a treat that I've never
experienced before.
We went to a place that had 'healing waters'.
This included a mimicked Dead Sea pool,
eucalyptus steam room, a cold pool, an infared sauna,
full body salt scrub chai smoothies poolside....HEAVEN!!!
Yes, this is how the other half lives!
The next day, after my jello body peeled itself out of bed,
It was time to pick up the flowers to make the bouquet
and table centerpieces...
Aja requested a style of bouquet that included succulents.
I had never really done a full on bouquet, let alone one with succulents.
First they had to be wired for stability...

In the end, the result was really stunning (if I do say so myself!)
and Aja was really happy with it...
Her colours were navy, grass green and buttercup yellow so I did
a French tie with green pins to incorporate all of the colours...

Three bridesmaid bouquets to match...

Kermit mums, Crispedia and Lisianthus rounded out the bouquet...

While I was doing the flowers, my mom and Meaghan were working on the cake.
Can you guess what kind?
Yup....a three tiered rice crispy cake!
It took A LOT of cereal and marshmallows that's for sure!
And one big ass pan!
While the cake was being made, friends were outside getting the decorating done...
As well as testing out some of the libations!
Alright....just about ready for the big event...
...to be continued!

Song for Friday...for the newly weds!

Some people film their entire wedding ceremony.
Daughter Aja and brand new son in law Paul decided to
try a different spin on things.
They had a special camera mounted in their yard and it took
a picture every so often and then the result was
a time lapsed video.
Set to a song by one of their favorite bands, Mumford and Sons,
it's a joyous and heartfelt scene, a tribute to a glorious day,
a testament to the love they share.
So enjoy the song, enjoy the sweet day...
Congratulations Aja and Paul!!!!
Love you both...
Have a fantastic weekend all!

Hey, it's good to be back home again....

Whew!
We made it!
After a month away, 12 days of it on the road, we are finally back on the coast.
So much we've seen and so much we've done that it'll
take more than a few posts to catch up.
Our daughters wedding was joyous, fun and full of love and happiness
and I'll post on that soon.
First I'll just send out a taste of the city images from Toronto.
Such a great city with so many things going on and
never enough time (or money for that matter!) to
take it all in.
But we did our best, that's for sure!
First stop....Kensington Market.
Neighbourhood of food, vintage clothes, music,
lovely people art and all things in between...
(by the way, best tacos this side of Mexico!)
Next stop...son-in-law Paul's favorite watering hole...
Steam Whistle Brewery  down at the old CN rail yard...
I must say I enjoy a pint of their beer myself!
A perfect place right before the ball game, just across the street. how convenient!
Blue Jays vs the Yankees tonight!
 Aahh, young love!
Unfortunately even the cheerleaders couldn't help  the Jays on this night....7-2 Yankees.
The next morning we drowned our sorrows at the Dakota Tavern with Bluegrass Brunch...
Once a week the dark, downstairs pub opens it's doors to all ages for
some great music and an all you can eat buffet...
Till the next time!
Hope you enjoyed a few postcards from the big smoke.
